Spalted Birch Flower Vase

This vase was made from a piece of birch branch. The blank was somewhat oval and so when it was mounted on the lathe I only turned the top half round. The section still covered in bark is oval, while the top half is round. The wood revealed itself as a beautiful Spalted piece. The vase is finished with 6 coats of lacquer and then waxed for a shiny protective coating.
Dimensions are 6” round and 6” tall. The opening for the flowers is 1 7/8”
